In principle, anyone older than three years of age suffering from flat feet or hyperpronation can and should be considered for the HyProCure procedure. The patient has to have what is called a "flexible" flat foot. This can be determined by moving the foot and artificially forcing the shape of the normal foot (see video below). If able to do so, then HyProCure is possible. This is because when the implant is placed, the foot needs to have enough flexibility to reshape itself back to a normal position. Fortunately, the vast majority of flat foot patients do indeed have flexible flat feet and are perfect candidates to benefit from the HyProCure solution.

It is often possible that other deformities, such as deviated metatarsal bones, ligamentous or tendon laxity or contractures, can be present which may or may not need to be addressed along with the HyProCure procedure. Your foot and ankle specialist will be able to determine this during your examination.
Some patients may have what is known as a "rigid" flat foot. Unfortunately, these patients are not good candidates to benefit from the implant, because their feet lack the necessary flexibility to adopt the corrected shape. These patients will need other types of treatment in order to improve their condition.
The vast majority of flat foot patients are candidates for the HyProCure system. In order to confirm that you are a candidate, all you need to do is check and make sure that your foot is flexible and not rigid. Simply stand with your feet flat on the floor and then turn them outwards, as if forcing a more pronounced arch. If you are able to do so, then congratulations, you have a flexible flat foot and you are a candiadate for the procedure.
